Hello all Moses,
My family seems to have mostly settled the North Carolina, anywhere upstate South Carolina (some from Rock Hill also) and possibly in the Tennessee area (they may have migrated to the SC/NC area from Tennessee - just don't know). I am looking for ANY Moses relatives who might be able to help me in my search for Gaither A. Moses. Gaither was born in 1890 in Burke County, NC (upstate NC) to David Moses and Frances Helms Moses who married Jan. 17, 1877 in Burke County, NC. Gaither was born in Burke County, NC but later lived in Lincoln or Gaston County, NC (around High Shoals or Laboratory areas on a "mill hill" with his father David sometime around 1928. He married my grandmother November 12, 1935 in Lincoln County, NC. My father was born mid-August of 1936. Sometime probably around 1937 or 1938, Gaither and my grandmother separated/divorced and Gaither is believed to have relocated in Bessemer City, NC or Kings Mountain, NC around 1938 (that would have been either Cleveland or Gaston Counties, NC). HERE IS WHERE WE LOSE HIM. Our family has no idea what happened to Gaither after that point and we are MOST ANXIOUS to find his gravesite for our father's sake. Our father is 63 years old and in poor health and has ONE request: he wants to find his father's grave before he dies. CAN ANYONE HELP? My brother and I have hit a HUGE BRICK WALL! We are desperate for any help anyone can give. We have tried EVERYTHING - Soc.Sec. Death Index, writing Bureau of Census & Soc. Security. We have checked numerous cemetaries, Register of Deeds offices NC and SC Vital Records (and Archives). While NC & SC Vital Records say they have no record of our grandfather's death, they ALSO SAY it is possible he died in NC or SC and it just never got filed at the state level. Also, we do NOT know what the "A" (middle initial) stands for. It is entirely possible they have my grandfather's record but not with his first name "Gaither". PLEASE CAN ANYONE HELP?? E-mail me at Cmcamidge@aol.com or e-mail my brother at Wmoses@excite.com. THANK YOU VERY, VERY MUCH! CMC
